7 Fun Ways To Celebrate Valentine's Day at The Beach

Whether enjoying an evening stroll along the surf, a candlelit dinner for two or a more unique activity, the Myrtle Beach area offers countless ways to make Cupid’s holiday extraordinary, according to Visit Myrtle Beach, the official destination marketing organization of South Carolina’s Grand Strand, commonly referred to as The Beach.

“Our 60 miles of beaches provide an idyllic place to celebrate the season of love this February with an abundance of opportunities to experience heartfelt happiness,” said Denielle Van Dyke, public relations manager, Visit Myrtle Beach.  “This includes a variety of charming Valentine’s Day events, where you and your loved ones can create lasting memories.”

Here are some seven of the fun and whimsical ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day along the Grand Strand:

  1. Take an enchanting horse-drawn carriage ride (Free for Valentine's Day)
On Valentine’s Day from 5 to 8 p.m., complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides will be provided at The Market Common, Myrtle Beach’s vibrant lifestyle center with upscale shopping, diverse dining options, a movie theater and more. Rides are first-come, first-served and require no reservations. Riders can catch the carriage in front of Dolce Lusso Salon at 300 Howard Ave.
  2. Pop the big question high above the sparkling shoreline
Magical moments come to life in the heart of Myrtle Beach and one of the most iconic spots for lovebirds is SkyWheel Myrtle Beach. The 187-foot Ferris wheel towers over the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, offering stunning, year-round views of the Grand Strand and Atlantic Ocean  from the comfort of its cozy, climate-controlled gondolas. Sign up for a Proposal Package to create a personalized and unforgettable experience as you pop the big question while floating on Cloud Nine.
  3. Stroll through Conway’s vibrant Valentine’s Village (Free)
Throughout the Valentine’s Day season, downtown Conway is adorned with festive, love-inspired décor like oversized conversation hearts reminiscent of the beloved sugar candies, marquee signs with sweet messages like “Be Mine” and vibrant neon signs that light up the evening. Feb. 13 – 16, Valentine’s Village opens nightly on the Town Green, featuring food trucks, sweet treats and flower stands, while free Venetian-style gondola rides take couples along the recently expanded Riverwalk.
  4. Be swept off your feet by the sweeping Live Oaks
For a stunning vow renewal ceremony, head to Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet on Feb. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. There, couples can reaffirm their love along Live Oak Allee, a serene pathway lined with 250-year-old live oak trees draped in Spanish moss and enjoy a romantic dinner. Registration is required.
  5. Cruise down the scenic Intracoastal on an authentic paddle-wheeler
For a truly memorable evening, cruise along the Intracoastal Waterway aboard the Barefoot Queen Riverboat, a 70-foot wooden cruise boat with a paddlewheel, two interior decks and three outdoor decks. Their two-hour Valentine’s voyages depart at 6 p.m. on the 14th and 15th from North Myrtle Beach and include a candlelight dinner, themed décor, entertainment and more.
  6. Let the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll serenade you with romantic classics
Along with songs around the campfire, Lakewood Camping Resort invites you to their Evening with Elvis Valentine’s Day Dinner and Show, taking place on Feb. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Award-winning Elvis tribute artist Alex Mitchell will serenade guests with classics like “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and “Love Me Tender.” The event is open to anyone with a ticket.
  7. Reaffirm your love in a laid-back, tropical paradise
As the sister of music legend Jimmy Buffet, Lucy Buffet embraces the laid-back, tropical vibe at her restaurant LuLu’s North Myrtle Beach, where a free, family-friendly vow renewal ceremony will take place Feb. 15 from 1-3 p.m. on their sandy beach area. Enjoy a complimentary Champagne toast, wedding cake, flowers and prizes for the longest married. Registration is required.
